Boxing is one of Cuba’s favorite sports, and the island boasts an unrivaled line of champions such as Kid Chocolate. Maybe it has to do with Cuban fighting spirit: whatever the challenge, Cubans will rise to it and will always find ways to move forward. Boxing is practiced in various places in Havana, particularly at the Rafael Trejo gym: an open-sky ring trapped between two pastel-colored buildings. A very special ambiance is felt at the matches to which the audience flocks every day after 4pm or on Friday nights at 7pm.
